How JunkRabbit works

  4. STEP 4It’s goneWe try to donate usable items when local charities accept them, and recycle whatever we can.

There is no in-person estimate and no haggling at the door. The price is set when you book and only changes if you approve it, for example if there are extra items that weren’t in the booking.

How is the price set?

Single items, like a couch, a mattress or a fridge, have a fixed price each. For a pile or a whole room, the price is based on how much of the truck it fills. Both are listed on each city’s site before you book, and the minimum order is $100 in every city.

No stairs fee. A walk-up costs the same as a ground floor.
No same-day or weekend surcharge. Today, Saturday or next week, same price.
No surprise charges. The price changes only if you approve it.
No phone number to see a price. We ask for one only when you book.

Is there an Uber-like service for junk removal?

That’s the closest description of JunkRabbit. You book on your phone at a set price and a local hauler in our network does the job. The difference from open marketplaces like Taskrabbit is that you don’t browse profiles or negotiate a rate: the price comes from a published catalog, the haulers are vetted and insured, and the booking, payment and any follow-up go through JunkRabbit.

Should I hire a local junk hauler or a national company?

Local haulers are often cheaper, but prices and insurance vary a lot, and many quote only after seeing the job. National chains are consistent, but usually price on site and charge for the brand. JunkRabbit sits between the two: the work is done by vetted, insured local haulers, while the price is published and fixed online before anyone arrives.

Does JunkRabbit work with property managers in several cities?

Yes. A property-manager account covers multiple properties, including buildings in different cities where JunkRabbit operates, with invoicing and Net-30 terms for commercial accounts. Certificates of insurance (COIs) go to each building’s managing agent within 1 hour of booking. Typical jobs are unit turnovers, items left behind after a move-out or eviction, and common-area and basement clear-outs.

What can JunkRabbit take?

Furniture, mattresses and bed frames, appliances, electronics, exercise equipment, pianos, hot tubs, and whole-apartment, garage or estate cleanouts. We take paint. We don’t take hazardous materials as standard, but can sometimes help case by case, so send a photo and ask before booking.
